Along the Road
I walked a mile with Pleasure;
She chattered all the way,
But left me none the wiser
For all she had to say.
I walked a mile with Sorrow
and ne'er a word said she;
But oh, the things I learned from her
When Sorrow walked with me!
~Robert Browning Hamilton~

SORROW
I HAVE COME TO KNOW SORROW;
TO UNDERSTAND HER WELL.
SHE CLINGS TO ME THROUGH MOURNING,
AFTER A LONG NIGHTS QUELL.
I HAVE COME TO DREAD SORROW;
TO FEAR HER STORMY SEA.
AS I HANG ONTO A LIFEBUOY,
SHE BUILDS A CREST FOR ME.
I HAVE COME TO PRIZE SORROW;
TO RECOGNIZE HER WORTH.
SHE MAKES RARE JOY MORE PRECIOUS,
AND OPENS JEWELS OF MIRTH.
I HAVE COME TO MARK SORROW;
TO APPRECIATE HER SPAN.
THROUGH MY LIFE'S SHORT HISTORY,
SHE HAS FIRMLY HELD MY HAND!

THIS TOO SHALL PASS
Woke up this morning with the years I've spent
Hanging heavy on my mind.
At times I see so much in me,
I wish I'd left behind.
But the one thing I've learned,
As the years have turned;
And they sure have traveled fast,
I don't have to stay where I am today
Because, this too shall pass.
This too shall pass.
This too shall pass.
And the tears that fall like raindrops now,
Will finally dry at last.
This too shall pass.
Sometimes I'm laughing with a crowd of friends,
And still I'll feel alone.
There's a place inside
For the tears I hide,
And I've only cried alone.
But I know that He's near,
And I know He hears.
And I know these tears won't last,
This thing today will be swept away,
Because, this too shall pass.
This too shall pass,
This too shall pass.
And the tears that fall like raindrop now,
Will finally dry at last.
This too shall pass.
As night turns into morning,
We will see the truth at last.
Troubles come to everyone,
They only come to pass.
This too shall pass.
This too shall pass.
And the tears that fall like raindrops now,
Will finally dry at last.
This too shall pass.
This too shall pass.
And the tears that fall like raindrops now,
Will finally dry at last.
Oh, this too shall pass,
This too shall pass.
This too shall pass...
